2012 Buick Verano Review and Pictures

2012 Buick VeranoSince the Verano is based off of the Delta II platform (which is relatively large for what General Motors calls a "compact sedan") that also underpins the Chevrolet Cruze, the new Buick's dimensions are awfully close to that of the larger, Epsilon II-based Regal. What's important to note, however, is that while the Verano is Cruze-based, it uses different materials throughout the interior and has a totally different look. GM is convinced there's a market for an entry-level Buick sedan, and the automaker will be showing off its latest creation at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show next week.2012 Buick VeranoAt 181-inches long, the Verano may be just over nine inches shorter than the Regal, but it's only about two inches narrower and less than half an inch shorter in height. Buick's design language carries over nicely to the new small sedan, with the front fascia also looking a bit more like the larger LaCrosse sedan. The upward sloping lower character line on the sides are very similar to what we're used to on the Regal, but perhaps the most interesting design cue are the taillamps. We like the angry-looking downward slope to the taillamp design, but even after seeing this car in person at a GM backgrounder, we remain unsure if the chrome eyebrows are a tasteful addition. Stare at an image of the Verano's rump for a few moments, imagine it without the silvery garnishes, and things still look mighty fine to us. The car rides on a set of 17-inch alloy wheels, though larger 18-inch alloys are available on higher-level trims.
2012 Buick VeranoLike the Regal, the Verano is only available with front-wheel drive. And also like the Regal, a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with direct injection lurks underhood and produces 177 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque. The Cruze, meanwhile, uses different engines altogether – either a normally aspirated 1.8-liter or a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder.
2012 Buick Verano Interestingly, the Ventiports on the Verano's hood are false advertising, with six holes to suggest there's a six-cylinder engine underhood. Either way, Buick says the larger four-cylinder is estimated to achieve 22 miles per gallon in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. To sweeten the pot, Buick also says that a turbocharged 2.0-liter four will be available after the Verano's initial launch, and while we don't have any details on this engine, we'll bet our bottom dollar that it's exactly the same one that's used in the Regal.
2012 Buick VeranoInside, the interior is exactly what you'd expect of a car that is essentially the lovechild of a Cruze and Regal, with Buick-spec materials and fit-and-finish carried down into a smaller package. Even so, the Verano's cabin is only about two cubic feet less capacious than the larger Regal, and we already know that the Cruze is still plenty comfortable for four full-size adults. In addition to standard OnStar, the Verano will be available with features like push button start, dual-zone climate control, a heated steering wheel and heated leather seats.
2012 Buick VeranoOfficial pricing will surely be announced closer to the car's on-sale date near the end of 2011. If early reports are to be believed, however, expect the Verano to be priced around $21,000 for base models, going as high as $26,000 for cars with all of the trimmings. We'll have more information live from the Detroit Auto Shownext week, but in the meantime, check out our high-res gallery and official press release after the break.

2012 Peugeot 208 GTi Concept Peugeot is revealing not one, but two concept cars at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, which present two expressions of the Marque's upmarket trend in the supermini segment. These concept cars interpret the generation leap already defined by the 208 but in different contexts. The XY Concept is intended for city dwellers who love distinction and refinement, whereas the Peugeot 208 GTi Concept re-generates an iconic legend.
The first thing that attracts you with the 208 and especially with these two concepts is the detailing of the signature LED headlamp design, which is prominently visible both day and night. Using Full-LED technology, the front directional indicators surround the main beam headlamps giving these concept cars the impression of having an iris. The rectangular headlamp units, when used on main beam, appear to have a 'feline pupil' … a technological and precise expression that is fully identifiable with the lion Marque. This precision continues with the integrated style components adorning the bodywork. Wheel arches have wing extensions, and bodywork with sills enhance the stance.

Mahindra XUV 500 Review,Specifications and Pictures

To contact us Click HERE
Indian carmaker Mahindra seems to have decided to put the country on global scenario with its global design based new SUV - Mahindra XUV 500. With this car in, Mahindra’s SUV offering touches the famous five figure.
The US $12.5 billion Mahindra Group has a fleet of SUVs in India and it has given some of the sturdiest and performance driven cars in India. Prominent among it was iconic Mahindra Jeep that had ruled Indian rural roads for decades. Later, Mahindra SUVs became more comfortable and powerful as well.
The recent addition, Mahindra XUV 500 is an all-new avatar by Mahindra and it takes global design signaling across the globe presence expectation.
The XUV 500 by Mahindra is a global standard SUV that is going to embark the company on a world-wide platform. Originally codenamed Mahindra W201, the XUV 500 received its name recently before its launch on September 29.
Pronounced as Mahindra XUV 500 with the last to ‘00’ pronounced as alphabet ‘OO’, it symbolizes activeness and the agility besides the quickness it has as an SUV. Mahindra has arrived at the design of this SUV after an intensive research and survey that is said to have been conducted in various western markets besides India. Apart from this, the SUV also has been tested to be perfect on many destinations including Europe, Australia and South Africa. After launch in India, the Mahindra XUV 500 will be marketed in South Africa.
Besides the design, Mahindra XUV 500 features a unique exterior styling, an array of technologies that is nowhere visible in the SUVs already in place by Mahindra. In addition, the global design brings with it the global standards as well in this SUV. Mahindra’s Research Valley engineers have burnt their midnight oil to make this happen and it is with the help of their efforts that XUV 500 is able to be developed on global standards.         The aerodynamic monocoque design based SUV Mahindra XUV 500 is entirely different from the traditionally designed cars. Contrary to the conventional design in which the car is made of a frame and then it is covered with lightweight metal sheets, the XUV 500 body is a single piece body in which the body and chassis are one piece. The monocoque design of the XUV 500 is also known as single shell design. It also has the first-ever transversely placed engine that has increased the passenger space inside and has also improved safety in case of an impact besides a larger crumple zone. Thus Mahindra XUV is much safer and crash resistant than any of the other Mahindra SUV offering. Land Rover LR2 Freelander and Volvo cars employ transversely placed engine in their cars. Such first in the class features make this SUV at par with global standards. Incorporating such features has made XUV 500 to compete with global SUVs in terms of global norms, safety regulations and emission standards. In India, XUV 500 will create its own unique space and is place above Mahindra Scorpio and the big SUV daddies in India.Mahindra XUV 500 has 2179cc mHawk engine of Mahindra Scorpio inside that helps this SUV challenge any terrain globally. The Common Rail Diesel engine produces 140bhp which is enough to cruise the XUV 500 on road or off-road. Most noteworthy is the torque which is 330Nm that lets the new SUV to move around easily even in snail-paced city traffic. There is a six-speed manual gearbox in XUV 500 with a torque on demand mechanism. There are two variants as far as transmission is concerned – XUV 500 two-wheel drive model and XUV 500 four-wheel drive model. Micro-hybrid technology for better fuel efficiency is also in place in this new SUV.
